WEEK 2 BOGGING

BLOGGING

This will be my first journal about the two topics which I learnt in class which is ESP 6013 INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES FOR LANGUAGE.

There are 4 types of Blogs;

  • Weblog - Frequently updated website such as online Journal. It is easy to be maintained. Displays of pictures and videos for better understanding. It is an open public domain. Easily accessible online resource. Anyone could open and read.

  • Tutor Blog -  Tutor blog is run by a lecturer or a teacher. Made to add syllabus material, course information and any form of material related to students learning. It is also to share reflection on students. Students are restricted to comment on this blog.

  • Class Blog - It is to be shared between class members and be monitored by lecturer or teacher. Students and their lecturer / teacher are able to post comment once it has been authorized. It is a part of collaboration between class members and their tutor.

  • Learner Blog - Learner blog is a student's blog. Just like this blog that I am using now. Frequent out of class writing. It is also an independent learning. Where students are able to get more information before writing up on their blog.

Use Blog????????

Blog is used for or as an extra reading material. It also encourage shy students to participate. It does not requires one's to talk directly but the students can express their feeling / thoughts here by blogging.

  •  Blogging helps to stimulate out class discussion
  • Encourage process writing approach
  • A portfolio of student's work
  •  Create a sense of community in class
  •  Build a closer relationship between students.

IF A BLOG IS NOT MAINTAINED THEY CAN DIE

Teachers act as a facilitator who monitors their students.

DISADVANTAGE

  • Public Domain
  • Difficult to do correction on student's work
  • Unmoderated
Anyhow, blogging is easier and cheaper reliable platform.
